Rutter Magnificat

Rutter’s Magnificat for soprano, choir and orchestra uses the traditional Magnificat text, based on the Virgin Mary’s prayer on learning she would give birth to Christ and extended with Marian prayers and poems chosen by the composer, to create a work reminiscent of outdoor processions in honour of the Virgin.
